Music

I'm giving in and finally creating a music play list for my blog page. I even let the kids each pick their favorite song to put on it so can you guess which song they each chose? I never thought I'd be saying this... but I can officially admit I'm a country music fan. I could have gone on forever adding country songs to my play list, but then I realized some of you out there may not visit our blog anymore. :(
Hope you enjoy the music!

30 Days

So this year for my birthday I will be turning the big 30!! I'm not exactly dreading it, yet I'm not really looking forward to it either. The other day I got a package in the mail with my name on it. After I ripped the box to shreds trying to open it (I'm such a kid) I found 30 gifts of all sizes all wrapped up in a box with a note that said Read outside of card before you open it or anything else! The outside of the card explained that I could wait until my 30th b-day to open all the gifts (no fun to wait) or open one each day of the month leading up to my birthday. (much better) So I thought it would be fun to line all the numbered packages up on my dresser where I get ready in the morning so I can remember to open one up each morning. Jenny you are such an awesome friend for putting so much time and energy into this box of fun for me. It's already helped me get excited about turning 30. I will try and do my best with being good and only opening one each day. I said "try" I can't promise anything. This is me, the girl who opened up all my Christmas presents under the tree one year when I was home sick and my family was at my dad's work holiday party.

Aloha

Since moving to our new home in August we have met many awesome friends and neighbors. One family in particular we have become pretty close to has a son Austin's age and a daughter Madison's age. PERFECT! Not to mention we get along great with mom and dad. Madison and her best friend, Taylor go to GEMS every other Monday night at Taylor's church. They hear Bible stories and learn memory verses and make crafts and play games. They had a luau as an end of the year celebration. They were practicing their hula on my front porch. So cute!

I Feel the Earth Move Under My Feet...

I might as well blog about the earthquake that hit us this morning since that doesn't happen out here very often. I woke up at 4:39 am to the sound of what I thought was one of the kids walking around. (we have hardwood floors and I wake up often from the creaking sounds) I thought maybe one of the kids was using the bathroom, so I called out an no one answered. Then I laid back down and remember feeling the bed shaking. I think I was so out of it that I thought I was trembling from a bad dream, so I rolled over and went back to sleep. Then I saw the news in the morning that an earthquake hit us around 4:30 am. I wish I was wide awake to experience the earthquake a little more. Anyone else feel the quake?

Guess who???

We recently attended a 1st birthday party for our good buddy Miles. It got me rummaging through some old photos of when our kids were close to turning one. I came across a picture of Austin enjoying his birthday cake. He was running a fever and not feeling well that day but still dove right into that cake. He also started walking the day of his first birthday. I still remember how he had been taking several steps here and there for the month leading up to his birthday. Then the morning of his party he took off all the way around the kitchen and dining room area at my parents house . He was in his diaper and waving his arms in the air like a monkey. Too cute to forget. He was OBSESSED with Barney at the time so his whole party including his outfit was Barney.

Sometimes when I think back to the fun baby and toddler days it makes me want another child. Then I talk myself out of it and realize I'm happy with our family just the way it is right now. I can't seem to find any 1st b-day party pics of Madison. I think we went digital by that point so I'll have to search through some photo CD's.
By the way, next month Austin will be celebrating his 10th birthday. I can't believe how fast a decade can fly by.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

I had to talk Brian into letting me take his picture. He's pretty excited about playing softball this season on one of our church's teams. They had their opening game tonight and it was quite exciting. Final score was 17-10, our team winning. Brian scored 2 of those runs and had some great hits and plays on the field. I'm so proud of him and I'm looking forward to coming to the games this year.

Poetry Fair

Roses are red violets are blue
my kid was picked for the poetry fair, how about you?
Just kidding... I'm not one of those arrogant parents. But I am very proud of Madison for being chosen to read her poem at her school's annual poetry fair this year. They choose only 2 children from each class and they have to recite them in front of an audience. It was really strange to see Madison a little nervous and dare I say shy! Any of you who know Madison well know that she is NOT shy.
Madison requests that any comments you leave for her have to rhyme. She'll be checking...

Girls Night

I was so excited to get a phone call on Sunday from The Oprah Show offering me tickets to the morning taping on Wednesday. Part of the show had Tina Fey and Amy Poehler from the new movie "Baby Momma" So they offered us free tickets to the private screening of the movie Tuesday evening. Free popcorn and soda too! We figured by the time the movie was over and we had to be at Harpo Studios by 7am the next day that we might as well make a night of it. We got a hotel room a walk away from the theatre.
Here we are walking in the rain to the theatre!

This was us waiting in line at 6:30 am to get in the studio.
Kristi, Sarah, Traci, me and Lisa in front.

Here we are after the show taking advantage of an obvious photo opp. I had a great time with you girls!!!!

Be sure to tune in to the episode about America's Funniest Videos and Tina Fey and Amy Poehler from "Baby Momma"
We were sitting about 3 or 4 rows from the front right in the center... GREAT SEATS!!!

Future Pop Star

Madison went to another Libby Lu birthday party over the weekend and I couldn't resist posting this picture.

Flag Football

Austin is on the Cardinals flag football team this year. They lost their first game, but put up a good fight. Austin is a really fast runner so I think he will be able to grab a few flags this season.

Before and After

It's absolutely amazing to me what a little bit of paint can do to a room. I think we'll spend much more time down in our cozy family room now. I'm on spring break this week and Brian is on vacation so we decided to tackle this painting job together. I really appreciate him helping me paint on his vacation because I hate painting by myself.
